Which videos can I use?
MP4, M4V, MOV and WebM containers are accepted, but the codec must be supported by your browser. H.264 MP4 is a useful starting point. Unknown duration, damaged or unsupported videos are rejected. File extensions do not determine decoding support.
Why does the GIF look different?
GIF stores at most 256 colors per frame and no audio. This encoder does not apply dithering, so gradients and photographs can show banding. A video may look better and use fewer bytes; GIF is most useful for short, simple motion where the receiving app needs that format.
How do I control size and timing?
Choose a clip up to 10 seconds, width 160–640 pixels and 5, 10 or 15 frames per second. Aspect ratio is preserved and small sources are not enlarged. GIF delay uses 10 ms units, so 15 fps is encoded with 70 ms delays, approximately 14.3 fps.
What are the local limits?
Source files are limited to 100 MB, one hour and 4K pixel area. The selected output may contain at most 150 frames / 40 million frame pixels and 25 MB encoded bytes. Shorten the clip or reduce width or frame rate if a limit is reached. Closing or clearing cancels the local work.
