Can I convert both SRT to VTT and VTT to SRT?
Yes, for basic text cues with valid timestamps. Set the shift to 0 for conversion only. Output uses UTF-8, millisecond precision and new sequential cue numbers. Cue order, supported text markup and text are retained.
Which direction fixes delayed subtitles?
If captions appear too late, enter a negative millisecond offset. If they appear too early, use a positive offset. For example, −1500 advances every cue by 1.5 seconds. Any negative resulting timestamp blocks export; no cue is clipped or removed.
Will conversion preserve all VTT features?
No. This release accepts basic cues, plain text and b/i/u tags. Header metadata, NOTE/STYLE/REGION blocks, cue positioning and other markup are rejected explicitly. It does not flatten rich subtitles or silently drop unsupported features. Keep the original file.
Does this translate or transcribe a video?
No. Supply an existing subtitle file or pasted captions. The transcript download removes timestamps only; it does not recognize speech, translate, remove repeated lines or strip markup. Overlap warnings flag timings for review without changing them.
