Start with the receiving instructions
Check the current photo requirements directly with the organization receiving it. Write down physical or pixel dimensions, allowed background and file size. Generic 25 × 35 mm and 35 × 49 mm presets are not passport rules. You remain responsible for head size, expression, lighting and any prohibition on image editing.
Review the matte before committing
Use one well-lit person, with a clearly visible outline and some space around the head. Start Remove portrait background to load the same-origin MODNet engine. Inference stays local. Inspect hair, glasses, ears and shoulders against both light and darker backgrounds. If important edges disappear, try a better original rather than submitting an obviously altered portrait.
Adjust dimensions and crop together
Set width and height in millimetres, then use zoom and horizontal / vertical crop position. The photo fills the chosen rectangle without stretching. Zoom can remove parts of the original; check the top of the head and both shoulders after every adjustment. Output pixels are calculated for 300 dpi, while the intermediate cutout is capped at a 2,048-pixel edge.
Test the physical output
Download PNG or JPG for a digital application and check the actual file requirements. Download the A4 PDF for printing repeated copies. Use 100% / Actual size, not Fit to page. Print one test sheet, measure the photo rectangle and inspect color before printing more. Download your own copies before clearing or leaving; the site stores no portrait history.
