Extract the body text from a Word document.
Extract DOCX body paragraphs and simple table text to a UTF-8 TXT file. Review the content in your browser without logging in or uploading the document.
Which content is extracted?
Body paragraphs and simple, unmerged tables in document order. Table cells use tabs and rows use line breaks. Hyperlink labels become plain text. Images, text boxes, headers, footers, notes, comments, automatic list numbers and page layout are excluded. TXT is a working text copy, not an archival replacement for DOCX.
Can this read scanned documents or old DOC files?
No. It accepts standard transitional DOCX only, not binary DOC, templates, DOCM or encrypted documents. Text inside a picture requires OCR. Use Image to text for an image or Scanned PDF OCR for scanned pages. Changing a file extension does not convert its contents.
Why does some content stop conversion?
Tracked changes, hidden text, fields, imported alternative content, equations, nested tables and merged cells can change the meaning of a simple text export. The converter asks you to resolve these in the source editor instead of guessing. Keep the original file unchanged.
How much text can I export?
One DOCX up to 10 MB and one million body characters. Simple tables share the 20-table and 10,000-cell limit. Preview shows up to 50,000 characters; TXT contains the whole accepted extraction. Processing is bounded to 30 seconds and clearing or leaving the workspace discards the local file and result.
